It’s September 21, which is the last day of summer… so it’s basically Fall.
It’s totally valid for everyone to ditch the shorts, throw on leggings with boots, and go to the closest Starbucks to order a venti PSL.
Serious talk though, the leaves are changing in the Rocky Mountains and it’s absolutely beautiful! As of today, the temperature is FINALLY dropping (below 90 degrees, haha) and Colorado residents are getting a nice refresher on what it’s like to have a chill in the air. After the scorching summer, we’ve had, everyone seems to be craving that 4 letter word… F-A-L-L. Some claim it to be the best season in the Rocky Mountains and *ahem* also the best time of year to tie the knot. With moderate temperatures, fall weddings are guaranteed to make guests happy and comfortable, which means happy wife, which means… happy life! But, often the fall season leaves us in limbo about how to dress and map out a beauty plan for the occasion.
So, as the season approaches (T-minus less than 24 hours), and with a growing trend for fall weddings, elopements and more; Jaded Beauty teamed up with Rocky Mountain Bride and The Bridal Collection to bring you ten fall style tips.
1. Don’t feel limited by the season!
RMB: “While a long sleeve wedding gown is absolutely stunning in the fall, wear what makes you feel beautiful.”
If you slip into a strapless ball gown that has your name written all over it, and you can’t help but spit out the words “OH, YAS QUEEN” to the mirror, there is no reason you can’t say, “YAS” to the dress!
2. Don’t shy away from shimmer!
RMB: “Dresses with sparkle can often have a glamorous vibe, but if you’re hosting an outdoor ceremony don’t rule it out! Choosing to wear a wedding gown with some shimmer can create a magical, ethereal feel at any Rocky Mountain venue.”
Show your true colors, and if you “sweat” glitter then you do you, boo-boo, and make it rain sparkles at your Fall wedding.
3. Who said you have to wear white?
RMB: “Try to avoid a bright white for a fall wedding – ivory is always going to be more flattering and will look more natural with fall colors.”
If you can confidently wear white year-round without getting a speck of “life” on your outfit, then you, my dear, are a unicorn, and we applaud you. Ivory is much more forgiving than white and truly matches the season (which can get messy at times) in style.
4. Consider mixing dress tones!
RMB: “For a fall wedding, mix the tones on your gown (like an ivory lace over a nude lining) to create a romantic and natural feel for an outdoor ceremony. Blush, nude, gold and champagnes also look beautiful in the fall.”
Don’t forget to match your make-up to those tones as well! A soft gold eyeshadow on the lid blends very well with a dark nude lip.
5. It’s all in the accessories!
RMB: “Create a fall feeling with your accessories. Warm golds, wrapped headband, and rich florals can create a fall vibe even with the most classic style gowns.”
Complete your bridal hair with a tasteful amount of florals to match your bouquet and wedding colors. Most florists will happily put aside a few “scraps” for hairpieces – you don’t need much! This looks stunning in fall bridal hairstyles!
6. A floral crown is still okay!
RMB: “Floral crowns are still on-trend but for all weddings, consider waiting to wear that floral crown for your reception. Keeping a classic look for the ceremony guarantees your photos to be timeless, and it creates two different looks from the ceremony to reception”
Business in the front (or in this case, first), party in the back (or after), ladies. Classic words to live by – even when it comes to your wedding! ????
7. The weather is unpredictable!
RMB: “The Rocky Mountain region is known for fast and unpredictable weather changes. Consider buying a shawl or lace jacket to pair with your wedding gown. Just in case!”
Also, keep your bridal hair in mind as the weather may change. Consider a soft, romantic updo rather than loose, flowing curls if the weather is looking questionable as the big day approaches.
8. Your love!
Navy or dark grey suits create great fall looks for the groom or your bride-to-be. If they want to go for a bolder look, a custom hunter green or burgundy suit looks great and photograph amazingly.
Even if you and your wife have opposing styles but still plan for each of you to partake in hair and make-up, your styles should compliment each other. Schedule a phone consultation, followed by a trial for each of you with Jaded Beauty in advance. We will make a solid plan for each individual style so you blend well together!
On the other hand, if it’s a groom we are talking about, maybe he has been growing his hair out for that man bun he’s always wanted Or, he wants to shake it out and let his lovely locks flow. Either way, make sure that man of yours still looks maintained and sharp. Our team is prepared to smooth or shape any wild hairs for the groom and groomsmen.
9. The wedding party!
Give them a little leeway with hair and make-up. A messy, tousled braid paired with a pop of burgundy on the lip and a champagne eye is a sexy look for a bridesmaid that won’t overpower the bride’s shining moment. This bridesmaid hair and make-up style also match the season perfectly.
For their attire, deep burgundy (obviously there’s a theme here and we are absolutely obsessed with deep wine tones), champagne sequins, dark hunter green or navy blue are great colors for your bridal party. Keep it simple with one color, or mix a few tones up for a laid-back fall feel.
10. Don’t forget your guests!
RMB: “Let the guests know what kind of terrain to expect. Certain outdoor venues may require sturdier shoe choices. And, if the reception is also outdoors, a friendly reminder to bring a light jacket for those cooler fall evenings is appropriate. If you’re expecting a chillier weather forecast due to location, providing blankets for guests to cozy up is a good idea.”
